Ride Legally in Sri Lanka — We Help You Get Your Temporary Driving Permit
Sri Lanka is one of the very few countries that requires you to get your license verified in the country before you enjoy an exhilarating drive here. To legally drive a TUK TUK in Sri Lanka, you must first obtain a temporary Sri Lankan Driving Permit for a TUK TUK. To get your Sri Lanka driving license, you must hold a valid license in your home country or have an international license. In other words, in Sri Lanka, it is illegal to drive on an IDP or foreign national license. Hence, it is mandatory for you to get your non-Sri Lankan license "verified" here.
You can apply for the license via the AA Ceylon office in Colombo. However, it may be a time-consuming process and a bit of a hassle, which is why we are able to pre-process the license on your behalf if you wish to not be stuck in paperwork. To get your Sri Lanka license before you arrive in Sri Lanka, you can submit your country's license (front and back), a passport copy, and a photo via email or WhatsApp.
You can pick up any vehicle in any place in Sri Lanka. It doesn't matter where it is. Just by providing us with your address, we can deliver your verified license to your doorstep.

Important Information
No. Sri Lanka does not accept an IDP alone. You must have the Sri Lanka Recognition Permit (issued by the AAC) in addition to your home licence. Riding without it is a traffic offence.
The permit is valid for up to 3 months or the duration of your visa, whichever is shorter.
The categories on your Recognition Permit match the categories on your home licence. If you hold a car and motorcycle licence at home, your Sri Lanka permit covers both.
You can send us your documents before you arrive so everything is ready. The permit is issued once you are in Sri Lanka.
